The scientific accuracy and truthfulness of the socialist theory of Juche

Contribution to the international e-seminar on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the publication of the work of great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il „Socialism is science“

25 years ago, on November 1, 1994, great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il published his essential work „Socialism is science“. Its release contributed to the defense of the great cause of socialism in a very difficult period of the international revolutionary movement, not long after the restoration of capitalism in the former Soviet Union and most socialist countries, and only months after the demission of great leader comrade Kim Il Sung, who led the Korean Revolution to victory over the Japanese occupiers and over barbaric aggression of the American imperialists and their vassals, and for nearly half a century he led the socialist Korea, which under his leadership rose from the ashes in the most brilliant country of the ruling working people.

The creative development of Marxism-Leninism, the creation of the Juche idea, Songun politics, and their later systematization into the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism were a decisive factor in defending the government of working people on the liberated half of the Korean Peninsula in the years of increasing opportunism and revisionism in the world communist movement, and especially after the shameful surrender of many formerly ruling socialist parties.

The glorious Workers‘ Party of Korea, by resolutely maintaining combat traditions and class education, did not follow and defy these pernicious tendencies, but did not isolate itself from the international workers‘ and national liberation movement and maintained friendly relations with all states and progressive political parties and organizations recognizing Korean independence.

Great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung has analyzed the reasons of the weakening and fall of socialism abroad in recent years. His work was further developed by the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il, among others in his work „Socialism is science“. They explained that the collapse of socialism in many countries does not mean its collapse as a science, only the bankruptcy of opportunism that undermined the ruling socialism. At the same time, they strengthened the conviction of revolutionaries that, despite temporary defeats, socialism would achieve its ultimate victory through its scientific accuracy and truthfulness. However, this does not happen automatically, but it is necessary to prepare the masses and choose the right method of combat.

Comrade Kim Jong Il in his work „Socialism is Science“ recalled the fundamental theses of revolutionary theory, trampled by reformists and traitors. He laughed at the naive notions of „class cooperation“ and the expectations of „help“ and „cooperation“ from the imperialists. He refused to expect „goodwill“ from the exploiters and pointed out that there could be neither love nor trust between the exploiter and the exploited. He pointed out that although there were no antagonistic classes in socialist society, there were still hostile elements and traitors in the revolutionary ranks. The basic criterion for assessing who is and who is not part of the masses is not his social status and class origin, but ideas. He condemned the reactionary chatter on „human rights“, which in capitalism are just the privilege of the rich.

He pointed out the connection with the masses as a fundamental factor in which, despite difficult circumstances, the party was able to establish and defend the best socialist system in which society forms a large harmonious family in which everyone values and supports leader as their father and the party as their mother and which is imbued with communist morality.

He stressed the priority of ideological transformation and political work. He called the revolutionary enthusiasm and creative initiative of the masses as the main force. Attempts to control man through money are contrary to the very nature of socialist society, and this method leads to its degeneration and puts it at risk, he added. He also focused on the importance of youth education in the universally skillful builders of socialism and communism. However, he did not forget material life, whose conditions need to be constantly improved.

„The loyal service to the people is a sacred duty for the Communist,“ says Comrade Kim Jong Il, emphasizing the need to combat abuse of power, bureaucratism, violations of law and corruption in the ruling socialist party. „Poorly prepared cadres can spoil ideologically, break away from the masses and become a privileged class,“ he points out. As much as the party and state pursue the correct policies, they will lose the support and confidence of the masses and, without it, gradually lose their very existence if the cadres abuse power. Tolerating power abuse, bureaucratism, irregularities and corruption among cadres is like digging your own grave.

Following the teachings of Lenin and Stalin on the construction of a party, concretized for Korean conditions by Comrade Kim Il Sung, Comrade Kim Jong Il emphasizes the need for a continual ideological struggle to eradicate all the deviations caused by old thought and imperialism efforts for ideological and cultural infiltration.

The Communists from the former Czechoslovakia are close to the work of the great general, even though it was created on the other side of the world. Unfortunately, the described tendencies of decay and fall also applied to our country, including the described consequences of counter-revolution. The Socialist Revolution won here with the support of the majority of the people in 1948, the same year when the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was established. The authority of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the successes achieved in the first years of socialism were extraordinary. Thirty years ago, in November and December 1989, the party peacefully and voluntarily surrendered power and capitalism was restored without resistance, and Czechoslovakia was then divided into two semi-colonies, totally dependent on Western imperialism.

Despite the betrayal of many former allies, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea continues to develop a genuine reign of the people, defend its independence and achieve success in the most difficult conditions of unjust sanctions and military threats. The validity of the work of the great general, published 25 years ago, is confirmed by words from the speeches and articles of the respected supreme leader Comrade Kim Jong Un, especially from his New Year’s speeches and the report at the 7th Congress of the Workers‘ Party of Korea.
